New Yorkers Pay More Property Tax Than State Income Tax: Westchester County Has Highest Property Tax In US

New Yorkers pay a whopping $50 billion a year in property taxes – $10 billion more than they pay in income taxes.

Westchester and Rockland counties rank first and fourth in the nation in property taxes paid, on average nearly $10,000 a year.

And upstate, Wayne and Monroe counties pay the highest property taxes compared to home values in the country.
